Excitedly! WhatsApp voice calling feature has finally released for all the Android users. Now you’ll only need to download its latest version 2.11.528 from the Google Play Store or the version 2.11.531 from the official WhatsApp website. It can also be activated after users get “invited” by receiving a call from other else.
According to Androidpolice.com
“The feature gets activated when a user receives a call on WhatsApp from someone who already has this feature. After the call, WhatsApp is activated immediately after the app is closed and reopened again.”
After activation, instead of seeing the most recent chats, you will get three-tab layouts namely Calls, Contacts and Chats on the homescreen of WhatsApp. The call tab shows incoming, outgoing and missed calls history with precise timings. Unlike some weeks back when WhatsApp had kept the invite-window open only for couple of hours, this WhatsApp has decided to open the invite-window for longer duration.
Currently, WhatsApp has been testing its voice calling feature for a while. A Reddit user Pradnesh07 has first got this voice calling feature activated on his phone. According to the images posted, it shows that the users who receive the voice calling feature will notice an icon for it, beside the Chats and Contacts tab. The call interface much resembles to a smartphone’s contact directory. The app will keep the record of all recent calls as well.
Last week, we have heard about a malware which was promising to access the WhatsApp voice calling feature through a link.
According to the Daily Star
“If users clicked on a link, they were taken to another website where they were asked to take a survey on behalf of the popular messaging service. However, the survey forces people to download applications and software that might contain dangerous malware.”
No doubt, it’s really exciting news for all Android users as they have been waiting for the voice calling feature since long. WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app and it has over 700 million monthly users worldwide.
