A latest report by Android Police points out that the pre-registration is actually designed to give users a notification when the app is finally released, when it can be purchased and installed. If a user changes their mind, there is also a one-tap un-register button which will remove the user from the list, adds the report.

The Google pre-register feature is currently available to all Android users. The users can download and install the new apps and games if they want. Meaning, the users are not bound to buy or download any of the app or game after getting registered. Its all simply about to notify the users about the upcoming and fresh availability of the apps.

The Play Store hasĀ  allows the developers to list their upcoming applications to let the users be aware with it. However, its totally depend upon the developers if they want to post their applications to the Play Store with or without the pre-registration button. The new feature is expected to help developers gauge interest and drive up pre-release hype.
