WhatsApp Hits 800 Million Monthly Active Users
According to a tweet from CEO and Co-Founder of Whatsapp John Koum, the popular social messaging application Whatsapp hits 800 million monthly active users. We think if this growth rate will be continued, then WhatsApp will cross 1 billion active users at the end of this year. It is because WhasApp is instantly adding 100 million users in every four months. The co-founder John Koum was indicating on his post that the company is maintaining its rapid growth trajectory, continuing the pace of growth that may bring the popular messaging app on track to hit 1 billion users later this year.
In a very short period of time such as nearly 4 months, the messaging service WhatsApp has acquired a big success and managed to add another 100 million monthly active users. This success will definitely make WhatsApp as one of the largest social messaging service. The 100 million monthly active user milestone is up from 700 million in January and 600 million last August.
The reason behind this glorious success of WhatsApp could be its wonderful features such as voice calling that is bringing the users at one platform instead of only using the service for messaging. On the other hand, the company has also launch the web-based version of Whatsapp.
There is no other social app closer to Whatsapp. Facebook Messenger is now at second position holding 600 million monthly users. “What I’d say around messaging is we’re pretty early in that cycle,” Zuckerberg said during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call. “We are about where Facebook was in around 2006 or 2007, where, at that point, Facebook is really just a consumer product. There were no businesses in the ecosystem.”
