If anyone willing to visit Shimla in this week then it is quite right time to make a decision as the Shimla Municipal Corporation is providing free Wi-Fi facility that will be access for a whole week because of the International Shimla Summer Festival, that begins from Monday. The festival will be celebrated for a week.
Users can now log on to a free Wi-Fi facility while strolling on the historic Ridge – Shimla’s most famous promenade. Deputy Mayor Tikender Panwer said to IANS that, “The Shimla Municipal Corporation, as a pilot project, on Sunday launched this free Wi-Fi facility for the residents as well as tourists.”
The facility, which can be accessed from Scandal Point to the Anglican Christ Church, will be available till June 7, He further said.
To avail this service, the one first have to register their mobile numbers, then a passkey will be sent to their mobiles. This free Wi-Fi facility is available to use for two hours every day. Its speed will be 1 Mbps with 7 GB of data storage.
The free Wi-Fi service will also be able to cover some parts of Mall Road, that was once a ‘British only’ street for strolling. They have installed seven routers to provide free Wi-Fi facility to all the residents and tourists. The range of every router would be approximately 150 metres.

So the week dedicate to all tourists and local citizens, enjoy the benefits of fast free Wi-Fi service.” Said Shimla, Deputy Mayor, Tikender Panwar
The Shimla Municipal Coorporation also requested the users to share their views and feedback about this free Wi-Fi facility during the whole festival, on their Facebook page. According to a tourism report, Shimla always have 20,000 to 30,000 tourists on every weekend during the peak seasons – May, June and November, December.
