WES Feminist ComicCon Comes to an End

by on December 14, 2016

FCCU – The two-day long WES Feminist ComicCon Convention came to an end earlier this evening.

Amassing more than 1,000 attendees, the convention witnessed brilliant cosplayers, stalls filled with geeks’ dreams, nail-biting competitions, and insightful panel discussions.

To cater the huge turnout, multiple events were kicked off simultaneously. For the sake of your convenience, we have broken down each sub-event one by one.

Panel Discussions

Our panelists included Ms. Nigar, Ms. Khaya Ahmad, and Ms. Misha Shafi. Being remarkable in their respective fields, the three did not only highlight challenges faced by them and how to overcome them; but also drew comparisons between International and Pakistan’s industry, discussed their upcoming projects, took audience questions, and took photographs with the fans.

Video Gaming

A separate gaming arena comprising of gaming consoles running Injustice: Gods among Us, Street Fighter V, and Tekken was set-up. The tournament followed the single elimination knockout format with the winner taking it all.

Fan Art

Going side-by-side video gaming was the fan art competition. Both long-time veterans and aspiring artists were encouraged to partake in the event to showcase their skills. Participants were free to draw anything they preferred as long as they had reference material.

Arguably one of the most happening sub-event of the evening, the trivia witnessed great response from the attendees. Entertainment Trivia was broken down into eight different categories including Harry Potter, Marvel vs. DC, Game of Thrones, Video Games, Doctor Who, and others. Teams of 2 were called out on stage to choose their favorite category and answer questions of varying difficulty.

Firecracker Jinx, Chun-Li, Two-Face, Joker, Harley Quinn – you name it and WES Feminist ComicCon had it. Veteran cosplayer artist Mehreen Saeed judged the aspiring cosplay artists and gave them handy tips on how to make it most out of cosplaying.

Merchandise Stalls

No ComicCon Convention is complete without the likes of comics, action figurines, and all things nerdy. Keeping with the tradition, stalls from vendors including DigitalRealm, Flourish & Blots, Maaro Tandoors, and more were set-up.

We will compile and put out a complete list of all winners in a separate list by tonight. Stay-tuned!

Team WES forwards a MASSIVE thanks to everyone who attended and made WES Feminist ComicCon a huge success! You guys da real MVP!
